Ask
the Expert question: I
think I want to add tracking to my trailer fleet but I maintain
a mix of owned, leased and rental trailers would it be difficult
to add tracking?
John Hinmon,
General Manager - VeriWise Asset Intelligence, answers:
The good news is that you can now get tracking on owned, leased
or rented trailers with GE. Realizing that most fleet managers
do maintain a mix, we wanted to make it easy to add tracking to
your trailer fleet & manage all your data activity in one place.
Some tracking companies may not offer all three options - but
one of our advantages is that we have a lease & rental fleet that
we can equip with our VeriWise Asset Intelligence system, as well
as offer the service to any units that you may own.
It's also
smart that you are considering adding tracking to your rentals.
With the high value load you are most likely carrying you can
not afford to lose track of your cargo. Knowing where your load
is at all times is important to you and your customers and will
allow you to provide better customer service. For example, you'll
be able to monitor your trailer and know when it has reached its
destination by using customer defined geo-fences and our custom
alert feature which provides for multiple ways to receive a notification.
Imagine being able to tell your customers exactly where their
shipment is located with a simple unit poll? That's the power
of knowledge.
Utilization
of your mix of owned, leased & rental trailers can also be improved.
Your trailers are better utilized because you are more aware of
their activities and able to reduce idle time. This can really
help in lowering your tractor-to-trailer ratio by optimizing trailer
productivity. When utilized on rental trailers, tracking can expedite
the return of unnecessary trailers by pinpointing their location
and days idle.
Now may be
the perfect time to add tracking to all your trailer fleet. Talk
with your Trailer Fleet Services representative to learn more
about how easy it can be to add VeriWise to your trailer fleet
and be armed with the data your business needs.
