Look Who's Turning 50!

GE's Trailer Fleet Services is celebrating 50 years of service to the trucking industry.

Welcome to the story of Trailer Fleet Services, a GE business that owes its longevity entirely on its ability to adapt, innovate, and change with the needs of its customers:

      • From our start in 1957 and through the 1970s, when manufacturers struggled to meet demand for rental trailers, our founders created an alternative way for companies to rent or lease the assets they needed.
      • In the 80s, when deregulation created explosive demand, we created large-scale, conveniently located trailer pools, opening dozens of branches across the U.S., Canada, Europe and, later, Mexico.
      • When specifications changed in the 90s, ushering in 53-foot trailers and ABS braking systems, we were there to help customers through the transition, both with assets and with additional financing help.
      • And now, in the first years of the new millennium, customers seeking services to improve their productivity are finding it in our total fleet management solutions that include Maintenance, Remarketing and VeriWise monitoring technology services.

Over the course of 50 years, we've also created asset management expertise, spinning off new business models in the Storage, Intermodal, and Modular building asset classes, in addition to a separate Asset Intelligence business. We're also proud of our many "alumni," those leaders throughout the trucking industry that got their early training and experience at one of our locations.

To our customers, thank you for your business and trust. To our strategic suppliers, we appreciate your support. And to our employees past and present, your ability to change and adjust to the needs of the business has just been outstanding. You are the number one reason we have reached this milestone, and why we are so confident in our future.
